This semester we are delving a bit deeper into the area of biblical counseling. Part 1 of this course was mostly theoretical and provided the rational and foundation for biblical counseling as the superlative approach to soul care. In this second part, we get as practical as we possibly can by “sitting” in a virtual counseling room and put theory into practice. We will discuss key element of the counseling process, learn how to ask right kinds of questions in order to gather important data, how to interpret that data, what time we devote to the various aspects of live counseling, the importance of giving homework, what a first session looks like, and when we end counseling. But the counselee is not our only focus. We will also discuss important aspects of the counselor, such as who should counsel, how to prepare to counsel, and the importance of maintaining godliness.
