The Doctrine of Scripture
A well-known hymn rightly proclaims, “How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in his excellent Word!” God has revealed himself to us in Holy Scripture. But what do we mean when we say that the Bible is God’s Word? And how can we be sure that it is God’s inspired Revelation?
In this class, we will examine Scripture’s claims about itself, the development of the canon, as well as the significance of terms like inspiration, infallibility, inerrancy, sufficiency, and perspicuity. In addition, we will focus on both historical and contemporary challenges to the doctrine of God’s Word.
It is our prayer that you will come out of this class with greater confidence in the Bible as God’s Holy Word.
